Delivering good for Dashers in NYC
Meet the DoorDash Mobile Unit
From customers to merchants to Dashers, DoorDash is always focused on delivering good to the communities we serve.
Across the five boroughs, we’ve been hosting events with community partners in order to distribute masks, hand sanitizer and other resources to Dashers and community members. We’re constantly looking for ways to support Dashers and using mobile units have allowed us to meet face-to-face in a safe way.
Dashers have told us these community engagement events have been a great way to connect with DoorDash and check in on how the last year has gone. We have really enjoyed meeting many of you and hearing your stories!
We have hosted these pop-up events all over the city, including Harlem, Jackson Heights, and Bay Ridge. Our community partners include the Arab American Association of New York (AAANY), Nino de la Caridad Foundation, Urban Health Plan, and more. It has also been a great way to meet the restaurant and small business owners in these neighborhoods who use DoorDash to provide access to food delivery for their customers.
To date, we have distributed thousands of PPE kits to community members and Dashers at our mobile units in the Big Apple. We’re planning on continuing to host these community events throughout the spring to ensure Dashers and the community feel supported as we continue to navigate the COVID-19 Pandemic.
These in person pop-up events are an extension of our continued effort to provide COVID-19 support for Dashers – including PPE, such as masks, gloves, wipes, and hand sanitizer, to all Dashers who use the DoorDash platform. PPE items are completely free, including shipping, for all Dashers who have completed a delivery on the platform and can be reordered on a weekly basis. We continue to provide financial assistance to Dashers affected by COVID-19 and access to telehealth -- including for mental and behavioral health -- for as low as $4 and are advocating for vaccine access, and hosted a webinar to answer Dashers' questions, in partnership with Doctor On Demand.
If you see our red van in your neighborhood, please stop by and say hello! We’re looking forward to meeting many more of you in the weeks ahead.
